I teach graduate courses for the online Master of Public Health - Health Education and Promotion (HEP MPH) program and conduct research that contribute to and advance the field of health geography.


I am an Assistant Professor of Health Promotion in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science. I received my PhD in Public Policy from George Mason University. Prior to joining USU, I have taught undergraduate-, master-, and doctoral-level courses in statistics, spatial health modeling, and population sciences delivered via different formats (traditional classroom, online, and hybrid courses). I also have consulting experience in the areas of economic and health research and have worked as a health/gender policy analyst at the World Bank and the Futures Group International, Washington DC. I belong to the American Public Health Association

In my research, I focus on examining spatial determinants of health disparities using quantitative methodologies at the intersection of geostatistics, spatial statistics, and spatial econometrics. I have studied health disparities spanning multiple areas including geographic trends in elderly health and global women's health, fertility, and tuberculosis treatment modalities among the urban poor,
