Excellence in Advising
Raquel Friddle has been awarded a “NACADA-Region 10 Excellence in Advising – Advisor Primary Role Certificate of Merit” for her service and contribution in the role as a Professional Academic Advisor. She transitioned to working in Academic Advising only 5 years ago and has been able to consistently grow as an advisor and maintain a respected and positive relationship working with students. This award is a demonstrated outcome of her accomplishments and hard work as a professional academic advisor.
She has accumulated over 12+ years of working in student affairs at Utah State University (USU). She was one of the finalists for USU’s Professional Advisor of the Year award in 2019 and was awarded the USU Professional Advisor of the Year in 2020. Her primary goal as an advisor is to guide a student to their educational and personal success by being a mentor, a friend and someone to listen and advocate for the student. She enjoys interacting with the students one on one and hearing about their experiences, accomplishments, struggles and concerns. It’s through these interactions that she receives the most satisfaction in her work and knowing she may have been a positive influence in their educational success.
She hopes to continue to grow and develop as an advisor and find or adapt to new strategies and ways to effectively help students as higher education continues to evolve. As time goes on, she would like to branch out to get more involved in other scenes related to advising or student affairs at different levels.
