Ready to become a KHS student? The questions and answers below should help you get started. 

Q. How do I apply for admissions to USU?

A. If you are an incoming freshmen, transfer student, returning student, or anything else you start at "Apply to USU".

Q. Ready to register for classes?

A. Register here.

Q. What is the admission criteria for transfer students?

A: Find the USU Online Catalog at catalog.usu.edu. From the menu on the left, find Academic Departments and Programs and scroll to “Health, Physical Education and Recreation” under the “Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services”.  Click on “Display programs for this department.” 

Q. What is required for admission to KHS Majors?

A: Find the USU Online Catalog at catalog.usu.edu. From the menu on the left, find Academic Departments and Programs and scroll to “Health, Physical Education and Recreation” under the “Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services”.  Click on “Display programs for this department.” 

Q. What classes should I take my freshman year?

A: When new students register for SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) they are directed to the Early Registration Request.  During this process, students choose classes and register for classes for their first semester at USU. Visit the SOAR Website

Q. What courses are required for my major?

A: Find the USU Online Catalog at catalog.usu.edu.  From the menu on the left, find Academic Departments and Programs and scroll to “Health, Physical Education and Recreation” under the “Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services”.  Click on “Display programs for this department.” 

Q. Where can I find course descriptions?

A: Find the USU Online Catalog at catalog.usu.edu. From the menu on the left, find “Course Descriptions.”

Q. How can I  track my progress toward graduation?

A: DegreeWorks is a useful way to track your progress toward your degree. To view your information in DegreeWorks, follow these steps.

  1. Log into your Access/Banner account.  (Go to www.usu.edu and click on MyUSU at the top.)
  2. Select “Student” then “Student Records.”
  3. Towards the bottom of the menu list, select “DegreeWorks.” 

This will show you the General Education, University Studies and major requirements. Green boxes indicate completed courses, blue boxes are in-progress courses and a red box means you still need that class.

You may also use DegreeWorks to explore requirements for different majors.  From the menu on the left, click on “What If.” Under “Pick a Major,” select the major you want to explore, such as Human Movement Science. Under “Pick a Concentration,” select an emphasis you want to look at, such as Exercise Science. Choose the “Process What If” tab to see how your classes fit into the new major.

Q. How can I change my major?

A: Fill out the change of Matriculation Form found at  www.usu.edu/registrar/htm/forms and clicking on “Records.”  The form must be signed by the new major department advisor and the old major department advisor, then submitted to the USU registration office.
