Academic Planning

Keep track of how you're progressing towards graduation! Degreeworks is a useful way to keep track of that progress. To view your information in DegreeWorks, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Access/Banner account.

Select "Student" then select "Student Records." Towards the bottom of the menu list select "DegreeWorks."  This will show you the General Education, University Studies and major requirements. Green boxes indicate completed courses, blue boxes are in-progress courses and a red box means you still need that class.

  2. For a more in-depth tutorial go to this link: http://www.usu.edu/connections/pdf/DegreeWorks_Tutorial.pdf

  3.

EXPLORE A MAJOR

You may also use DegreeWorks to explore requirements for different majors. From the menu on the left, click on “What If.” Under “Pick a Major,” select the major you want to explore, such as Human Movement Science. Under “Pick a Concentration,” select an emphasis you want to look at, such as Exercise Science. Choose the “Process What If” tab to see how your classes fit into the new major. Note: You will also want to make sure you have selected "Bachelor of Science" and the correct academic year.

Making an Academic Plan

DegreeWorks is a very helpful tool for helping you plan future semesters. Click on the "Planner" button in DegreeWorks. On the right you will see a section labeled "Student Educational Planner." This is where you select the semesters during which you expect to take specific courses. On the left you will see a section labeled "Planner Worksheet." This is where you will draw your courses from as you populate your plan. Click and drag "named" courses from the Planner Worksheet to the Student Educational Planner.
